GTM Engineering: The Field That Didn't Exist Two Years Ago
Technical skills now directly power revenue. Sales engineers and growth people are using platforms like Clay, Attio, and Apollo to build what used to require entire technical teams.

GTM engineering wasn't a thing a couple years ago. Now it's creating thousands of jobs annually.
Technical skills now directly power revenue. Sales engineers, growth people, market researchers; they're using platforms like Clay, Attio, Apollo to build what used to require entire technical teams. No code lowered the barrier, but now we have new operating systems for go to market.
I'm not trying to be a thought leader here, but there are core concepts you need to grasp to play this game.
- Lead Collection You need a repeatable way to get attention so people either: A) reach out to you, or B) are interesting enough that your operations reach out to them
This is ICP definition, cold calling, cold emails, social. Building the lists.
-
Lead Enrichment A name and company are useless without context. Where do they work, what do they buy, do they have budget, what do they actually need, what does their company need? This turns cold data into something you can act on.
-
Conversation Initiation Now you have real information. You can ask meaningful questions directly, hit pain points, and show how you solve their actual problems.
This whole process is more art than science. That's why technical people often struggle; there's no deterministic path to follow.
But even if you're technical, I can walk you through it. Running a session next week. Link in comments.
