Mapping Builder Density in Waterloo

We drove to Waterloo to map the builder density. The technical output there exceeds every benchmark.

Stephen Rioux and I deployed within 48 hours of our first strategy call. We met the operators behind Akatos, the hacker house that functions as a talent pipeline and project accelerator. Their feedback loops run tight. Their hospitality matched the intensity of the space (thank you so much for having us Jerry Jiang)

They made us to answer the questions we had been circling: • Do we curate by craft (builders, developers, makers, designers) or engineering for cross functional density? • Do we segment by demographic or optimize for specific psychographics? • What does the University of Waterloo actually produce at scale: Co-Op velocity, research depth, or shipping speed?

We operated at the same tempo during the trip. We built and deployed a website in under four hours. We closed tenant conversations between meetings. We activated sponsor pipelines for Q1.

Toronto presents different constraints. We will currently set to be the only dedicated hacker house operating in the GTA, which means we set the standard. Having represented multiple tech companies to sponsors (Cursor, Perplexity, Clay); I translate brand guidelines into community value with precision.

We will control the event architecture and the alignment between these big names. Looking forward to it.
